Overview
This degree program provides a comprehensive education that blends nursing theory, clinical simulation, nursing laboratory skills, and clinical practice to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the workforce as a competent nurse.
The program offers a strong foundation in biosciences and evidence-based care, along with specialized training in acute care settings such as medical, surgical, and mental health nursing.
Interactive nursing laboratories featuring high-fidelity simulation technology are used to develop your skills and enable you to gain practical experience through clinical placements across various healthcare settings. This practical exposure will prepare you to provide top-quality healthcare to patients upon graduation.
You’ll have the opportunity to participate in 20 weeks of clinical practice across various healthcare sectors, including major metropolitan and rural hospitals, as well as the community sector.
Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on the importance of research-based nursing practice, ensuring that you are equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver the best possible patient care.

Qualification
- Completion of Year 12 of secondary school or equivalent academic achievement
- ATAR score: 72.15
- Prerequisites: Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4 with a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL, or equivalent studies.
- OR: Completion of a Diploma of Nursing and is currently registered as an Enrolled Nurse
Inherent Requirements
- Must meet the Inherent Requirements (basic physical, communication, intellectual and interpersonal tasks to achieve the learning outcomes of the course)
This course requires you to provide evidence of your English proficiency set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. There are two ways you can do this:
Proof of previous studies in English
You can meet the English language requirements with previous study if:
- You attended and successfully complete at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English AND this included at least two years in secondary school (between Year 7 and 12) AND this was completed in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, United States of America, Canada, Republic of Ireland or the United Kingdom
English language skills test
You can meet the English language requirements if you complete one of the following English language tests within two years of the course commencement date:
- IELTS score A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 7.0 in each band
- TOEFL – IBT score A minimum result of 94 overall including a minimum result of 24 in Reading and Listening, 27 in Writing and 23 in Speaking
- Pearsons Test of English A minimum result of 65 overall and a minimum result of 65 in each band
As part of this degree, you will be required to undertake 800 hours of clinical placements in health care facilities throughout the degree.
